Welcome to Our Old Farm House

Many of you have never seen our home. I wanted to take you on a tour. Many friends and family have asked to see pictures...so here we go. Currently there is a 4 sale sign in the yard. Since Jason has transferred to the Maritime Civil Affairs Squadron, he is driving a financial burdening 164 miles round trip to work M-F. I love this old farm house. We have put a lot of time, money, and love into it. We have two acres, the Amish shed row barn that we had bought for my horses (we sold them all march 07), a detached garage, and the house itself which is a tad over 2300 sq feet. It was built sometime in the mid to late 1800's. It was a huge house for a humble farming family.... I say humble because even though it has some fine architectural details...they are not as detailed as the more affluent homes are and the hard wood floors are not high end for the time. These pictures were taken by our agent in March..so all the beautiful flowers and ornamental grass have not taken off yet. The first picture is of the house...Jason remodeled the front porch in Feb. We could not walk on it for fear of falling through. He put down beautiful tongue and groove cypress flooring on it and finished it off with the antique nails and a dark stain for a authentic look.

I decorate real simply. I am not a nick knack person nor do my walls have to be full of pictures.

The second picture is our bedroom upstairs at the front of the house. Then there is Jadon's bedroom upstairs at the back of the house. Adah's room is next. Jason had to totally remodel this room...it was a wreck. He did a wonderful job and Adah now has the "newest" room in the house. Although if we do not sell this place soon, we will have to move rooms around and make that my sewing/craft room.

The next picture is the spare bedroom which is on the first floor of the house with a view off the front porch. This was probably once the sitting room or parlor for there are beautiful curved french doors that open into the family room (you will see them in the next pic). I currently sew in this room and if I took a picture of it right now...friends who know me would not believe that I created the mess in there. The following picture is the entry way from the front door.

Then the family room--see the awesome set of curved french doors...I fell in love with those. The picture with the piano is just "another room" It is the side entrance to the house and is also off the kitchen.

Here are 2 pictures of the kitchen....All those cabinets are original to the house and they were cranberry red when we moved in--YUK....my grandmother and I tackled this room first. It is very pretty, bright, and country like now. I love it...other than the fact everything is old in here and we have yet to put in a dishwasher---think i will ask for that for Christmas this year:)

Then there is the laundry room off the back side of the kitchen. I have a huge laundry area which is very nice and it also exits to the back deck Jason just finished.

Then there is a picture of our cute barn that i painted last summer to match the house...it is empty now:( I miss my horses.
Hope you enjoyed the tour...

Oh, I loved the tour! How amazing it must be to live in something built over 100 years ago!! The east coast is so fascinating to me for that reason. Love the old houses and buildings. Wow, you had horses? I have heard that they are expensive. Uh oh, gotta go, mommy is needed!

Hi Amanda. Wow....what a neat place to live. Beautiful pictures. I love our newly built home....but I surely enjoy seeing and being in homes that were built way back when. Very nice pics.

Your house is like right out of a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. It's beautiful and so peaceful looking. I love it down south; the people, the places, and of course the old farm houses.
